WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

It would be fair to say that football and reading are my two lifetime passions. One of my fondest childood memories is of finishing football training on a Saturday morning and then climbing into the back of my Mum and Dad’s car where the latest copy of Roy of the Rovers would be waiting for me. (Look it up, kids, I promise you'll love it!)

In late 2009, having been working as a journalist for seven years (not a sports journalist as had been my dream from the moment I realised I wouldn't make it as a footballer - in other words, a very young age) I figured it was time for a change. I wanted to go back to having fun with my writing - which basically means I wanted to write about football.

Having long been an FA qualified youth football coach, I began speaking to some children about the books they liked, and was dismayed by the number of reluctant readers I encountered - especially, it has to be said, boys.

It was from discussions with these children that the character of Alfie Jones was born. Over the past five years I've been amazed and humbled by the feedback I've had from parents and teachers who have told me that their children, many of whom don’t normally read, have finished the books and are now eagerly awaiting the next one.

On this website, you can find out more information about all the books I've writtern, read some sample chapters, buy the books and even find out more about me. If you're a teacher, and would like to find out how you could book me to come into your school, then there's information about this too.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site, and if you're already a fan of Alfie Jones or any of my other works, thank you for your support.
